Do Children Acquire Racism From Their Mothers

But if this is true, why wasn't this news travelling like wild fire through every major news organization? The story I'm talking about is titled Do Children Acquire Racism From Their Mothers. It involved research conducted at the University of Padova in Italy. The study made an attempt to determine how parents influence -- if at all -- any racist behavior in their children. The study concluded that "it is mothers' perceived attitudes which are more influential than fathers'." The study discovered, "In sum, mothers seem to play a more relevant role in comparison with fathers in shaping children's responses towards Blacks." I have always wondered why white males always receive society's burden of guilt and shame for racism in America while white women -- historically united with white men -- have received very little condemnation. I feel this is one of the twentieth centuries biggest con jobs. In my life as a white male, I have heard some of the most racist comments spew from the mouths of many white women.

I even dated a white woman who told me she would never date a black man because she finds them dirty and scummy - and she was a member of the National Organization of Women who received scholarships from various women's rights organizations! White women have escaped accountability and responsibility for the instigation and perpetuation of racism in America. Claiming they had no power to change society is bullshit. They've had, and still have, the most powerful position in society -- the ability to influence our children. Transcending from the home to the schools, women have the opportunity to create a paradigm shift in society by way of our children, the most untainted and honest humans on earth.

And if women believed great harm would come to them if they spoke out in favor of racial equality - at a time when doing so wasn't "politically correct" - then wouldn't the same be true for many white males? Historically, the majority of white males in our country did not have the power or influence as the elite white males; the rich, educated, and political men who routinely made life impacting decisions for the rest of society. Illiteracy was rampant among the common white male. How many of these men went along with racist attitudes out of common ignorance, or out of fear, trying to avoid bringing any violence, pain, or hardship to themselves and their families? I feel that white women should hold themselves accountable to African Americans as much as white men. And if they can't do that, then they must reconsider that many white males may have been under the same strained emotions as them -- the uncomfortably of engaging in a behavior one knows is not right, yet feeling scared and helpless to do anything about it. And as for ignorance, I feel both white men and white women are equally responsible.
